Re: new tone arm

I love the stealth look - makes my recently purchased Nima look like a clunker! Lots of good information here, including manual, video and review: https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/ ... m.1088949/

Re: How to Wash Records according to Discogs

I wholeheartedly agree with Satrus regarding Ultrasonic cleaning. I could never find a satisfactory way to clean vinyl until I invested in an Ultrasonic machine - I fill it with 5 parts distilled water to one part white vinegar. Some of my 70s vinyl was close to unplayable, now almost as new. I neve...

Re: Component sale - Townshend, Heybrook, Marantz, Sony

Would you sell just the speakers? Hi Paul, I was a bit optimistic trying to sell speakers, turntable and amp together, so yes I would. if I piece them out, it would be Heybrooks 300, Townshend 250 and Marantz 200. I think that's pretty good value considering what else you could get for the money an...

Re: Imaging hard left and right

So, serious question, ideally where should hard left and right images sound as if they're coming from? Should they image outside the speakers? For me that's a yes. As others have mentioned it's very much down to the recording, either live, or post studio processing where much trickery can be applie...

Re: Speakers in the ceiling?

Hi Seán, Thanks for your reply and kind offer. I have B&W for my music room speakers and have always been very happy with them. I'll get in touch with Cloney for some advice, good idea - and I'd better save up some more, I may be budgeting a bit low at the moment, but I like the idea of sticking...

Speakers in the ceiling?

Hi Everyone, I've just moved house to a place where the living room, dining room and Kitchen are all in one open plan area. Each has it's defined areas within the room, kitchen, dining and living area forming a triangle around a central staircase (not sure if that makes sense so I made a basic layou...

Re: preamps revisited

I prefer a preamp to sound as transparent as possible I'd agree with HiFiFan, I'm a bit of a detail freak. I've already bought what I think will be my last pre-amp - a passive from Music First -the Classic V2. Yes, the pot is effectively a series of switches which are a bit clunky to operate, no, t...
