Go this in post yesterday was recommended by an audiophile site as the definitive collection on vinyl. It certainly is a sumptious package, double 180 vinyl with acompanying CD and download card. Popped it on turntable and sounded fine, then I decided to compare it with my Chess 50th Anniversary Collection on CD.

Oh dear the CD trounced it completely - the sound stage, voice and instrument separation was so much better on CD. Wolf's voice had much more presence with clearer diction, Hubert Sumlins guitar was searing and precise. The vinyl sounded muddy with Wolfs voice and the guitar buried in the mix, while the CD sounded like a much more modern recording. I appreciate that the vinyl is probably a more authentic 50s sound, but I know which I prefer, so its a return to Amazon I'm afraid. This is still acracking album and I really enjoyed re-aquainting myself with an old blues favourite again!!

That was really helpful Ivor. Thanks. I'm starting a band. Open auditions. Date/venue TBC.

BB King Completely live and completely well.

A 2 disc composite of two earlier albums
An absolute gem, live sides are very atmospheric... bought via Vintage Vinyl Group on Facebook
