Having a listen to this Muddy Waters Album at the moment:
www.Ciunas.biz
For Digital Audio playback that delivers WHERE the performers are on stage but more importantly WHY they are there.

I would like to have some of Mississippi John Hurt's music in my collection....is that a good one to start with or would one be better off going for some thing like this....

Re: Blues - what are you listening to?
I have that 3 CD set and it’s very good, a really sympatric approach to recording this very gentle man.
If you can get a hold of some of his Live recordings you’ll get great insight into the mans amazing gentle way of capturing an audience.
Try these;
I know this comes in two volumes on vinyl.
And
Legend - once you get an appreciation of his music it becomes a must have.
Once you get into his music you will hunt out more, and even more.

A special program of Muddy Waters, starting with a solo acoustic set from Newport on 16 July 1969. I can report that the SQ is actually pretty good. Its also great to hear Muddy actually speak between songs, starting off with a mention of Son House.
This is actually pretty special stuff. Theres also a Muddy video at:

And a twitter derived set of covers of muddy's stuff;

But that Newport set is pretty good stuff.

Re: Blues - what are you listening to?
I haven't listened to this in years, I forgot how good an album it is.
