Gale 401a restoration

Cheers Derek. Claus was here for a good hour this afternoon and spent most of that time with a smile on his face. I sensed he liked what he heard! He might post his thoughts.

It was fascinating comparing the Croft 'Iosis' (a special edition V5 according to Glenn) with it's 35 watts of classic, tube warmth and rich musicality and the Musical Fidelity with it's seemingly endless urge and boundless energy and power. Given the load - down to 2 ohms, the Croft coped very well but seemed to be digging very deep at times. The MF on the other hand never broke sweat and romped home.

If they were cars, the Croft would be an old Jag, very lovely, smooth, with a roarty note. And good for 100mph. The Nu-Vista M3. Well the M3 tag is very fitting. 4 litre V8 with glorious engine note anybody?

Thanks again Claus and good luck with the sale.

Great afternoon in Terry's (with danish meatballs as an added bonus!) listening to his Gales. They sounded great with good imaging and real umpf in the low and lower mids. Great job by Terry! We hooked up the Sonus Fabers for a quick spin afterwards, and they were certainly a bit more refined but of course never reached as deep. Still a very nice setup with both speakers, that it would be very hard to get tired of.

You are really in the swing of things now!!

I love the look of the Accuphase, with de wooden surround and analogue power meters......however can it be obtain in good condition?
It sure can Adrian! This beauty arrived today. Accuphase e303x. 1985, mint condition inside and out. No wooden case but happier without as the turntable shelf frames it perfectly.

TT 1986. Amp 1985. Speakers circa 1978. Retro bliss!

I'm holding off on ordering the crossover parts for the Gales. The refoamed drivers are only now starting to show and I want to see where they take me before making any changes to the xo.

Yes, they are for me.
For a french Gale GS401A owners.

I have already one pair, but I think that they are the first one. One fuse too
The crossover is black and the number are 000259 and 000300 on an iron plate.
I never seen that before.

Do you have an idea ?
