I would put them on the same level as the Beethoven string quartets Seán and they get better as they progress chronologically culminating in the last two wonderful works.

Seán wrote: I really must get more recordings of Dvořák chamber music, this is great music. Any recommendations?
I can offer nothing Seán as the Dvorak string quartets were never on my radar for some reason.

The Ravel and the Fauré string quartets certainly are wonderful works; I am delighted that you are enjoying them!

I finished off listening to this box set with, amongst other smaller works, the following:
Violin Concerto No. 5
Rondo Concertante in Bb
Sinfonia Concertante in Eb
Concertone in C

Oistrakh plays very well and imbues these works with a sense of energy and forward momentum with others that I have heard do not.

Claude Debussy

What better way is there to celebrate Debussy's birthday than in the incomparable company of Quartetto Italiano. Fabulous music.

Wow, that is very strong praise indeed. I expect Chalkie might agree with you on that assessment too.
