That's one of the recordings I never miss this time of the year, it's really very beautiful, and the recording is excellent.

OK Pepe, I have ordered it tonight!

A sample of my recent listening habits follows:

Image
Gregorio Allegri
Miserere

The Sixteen
Harry Christophers - conducting.

Image
Richard Strauss
Don Quixote

Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra
Herbert von Karajan - conducting.

I have to confess that I do struggle with this piece, fair play to Darren on the splendid job he did on it in 2012. Unfortunately, I cannot locate Darren's thread, I hope it wasn't deleted. I will preserve with von Karajan's reading of this work.

Image
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Symphony No. 34, 35 & 36

Prague Chamber Orchestra
Charles Mackerras - conducting.

The "Haffner" is on repeat play on a daily basis.

Co-incidentally Mackerras is to the fore on another splendid box set:
Image
Ludwig van Beethoven
Symphony no. 9

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra
Joan Rodgers (soprano), Delia Jones (alto), Peter Bronder (tenor) & Bryn Terfel (bass)
Charles Mackerras - conducting.

Image
Ludwig van Beethoven
Piano Concerto No. 5

Concertgebouw Orchestra
Bernard Haitink - conducting.

If there is a better box set available of these splendid works please let me know and I will buy it.

And last week's winner of BAL:
Image
Franz Schubert
Impromptus D899

c/w Impromptus D935
Radu Lupu (piano)

and now, well, it's back to the music.

Pepe, I hope that you and your family are alight, it was 7.5 on the Richter scale.

You should Seán, it´s not just another set of the Beethoven concertos, it´s very characterful and superbly played by Serkin. The 1977 sound is top of the class. Definitely a must have.
