What are you listening two?

I'm so bad I've only THIS MOMENT remembered I bought that big Chopin box a while ago. I need to quit my job so I can get around to listening to this stuff.

Sean, is the sound quality on the Rubenstein recordings very much in the historical category? I know it's bad form, but I can't cope with that. I'm truly the worst kind of audiophile!

I have the 11 cd box set below. The analog tapes were digitally remastered and are very fine indeed. The majority of the recordings are from the sixties, that said a couple of the cds were recorded in the 1947-1948. To my mind, it is a wonderful, wonderful set, I wouldn't be without it

Enrico Onofri is concertmaster of Il Giardino Armonico, and after Fabio Biondi the greatest Italian baroque violinist. Far more than a display of terrific virtuosity this is rare, superb musicianship.

These are all wonderful performances and Ravel’s Introduction and allegro is, for me, a highlight on this CD.
