Re: What are you listening to?
I would have been very surprised if you had Jared; one that I will eventually invest in myself methinks.

that's right... the soloists are fine enough here, and all in all, this is a very accomplished set, but it just slightly lacks that fluency and finesse that the Gardiner set has to set it out as truly special... if Gardiner's was 10/10 then this is 8.5/10.fergus wrote:I would have been very surprised if you had Jared; one that I will eventually invest in myself methinks.
as we both know, Fairy Queen really is an acquired taste, so I can't imagine many would want multiple versions in their collection, but the Christie set is also highly regarded... where is Pepe when you need him?

interesting Fergus... there is a composer of whose output I have thus far heard very little.fergus wrote:

I really like everything I have heard by Boccherini. Young Dave used to include his music in his posts on this thread too.Jared wrote:interesting Fergus... there is a composer of whose output I have thus far heard very little.fergus wrote:

Very lyrical and inventive music Jared....I came to him via his Chamber Music and eventually worked my way around to his Symphonies.
