in fairness, this is pretty good... although overall, I wouldn't put it above Gardiner's.

I would have been very surprised if you had Jared; one that I will eventually invest in myself methinks.

that's right... the soloists are fine enough here, and all in all, this is a very accomplished set, but it just slightly lacks that fluency and finesse that the Gardiner set has to set it out as truly special... if Gardiner's was 10/10 then this is 8.5/10.

as we both know, Fairy Queen really is an acquired taste, so I can't imagine many would want multiple versions in their collection, but the Christie set is also highly regarded... where is Pepe when you need him?

I really like everything I have heard by Boccherini. Young Dave used to include his music in his posts on this thread too.

Very lyrical and inventive music Jared....I came to him via his Chamber Music and eventually worked my way around to his Symphonies.
