Did anyone here saw the Tim Burton film?
Well, the music is far better than what was on offer there. In this live Munich recording, with real opera singers and a fine symphony orchestra, Sweeney Todd becomes an important and innovative score.
( I still have nightmares of Johnny Depp singing the title role).

Ha, ha. The film was indeed dreadful, and the singing even worse.
But the musical is not that bad. Tim Burton made a gory, gothic thing, but that was not Sondheim´s idea. Sweeney Todd is Grand Guignol, it´s a farce, but Burton made something sick and ugly out of it.

I believe this is the last volume of the Vivaldi complete bassoon concertos.
Sergio Azzolini takes bassoon playing to a different level, quite simply, incomparable.
