Looking for a headphone amp
Hi all.
I'm in the market for an amp for my HD 650's. Does anyone have something surplus?

I can recommend this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DUAL-AMP-portable ... 704wt_1165
Here's a review http://rockgrotto.proboards.com/index.c ... 309&page=1
I bought mine about a year ago as it looked promising and had good customer feed back.
I got the optional op amp upgrade too.
Its rechargeable and can also be run in the house plugged in with its adapter.
The build quality is very good with solid metal casing.
As for the sound, its extremely transparent. I use it with my sony mp3 player playing 352kbps lossless.
I got the amp because the mp3 player sounds very compressed when you try to play loud and use the bass boost. So with the amp, i have the mp3 player at 2/3 volume and use the amp for the rest.
Ive used it with Shure SE210's which aren't great. Bass light. And my Sennheiser HD280pro's which really shine when used with this amp.

Look at that:
http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/446 ... -dac-amp/0
I have D1 (upgraded tube & headphone amp OPAMP, You can read about upgrades on headfi).
I think it's very good relation between price and quality - and easy work with high ohms headphones.
If You want listen to that - I'm live in Longford.
Regards.

Re: Looking for a headphone amp
Cheers for the heads up, looks like they sold the day after I got back from the hols.
Ah well, a week in Bologna and Parma with the lads combined with a fondness for Barolo does nothing for one's bank account!
Not to speak of the fact that I'm off to Provence in a fortnight...... Oh lord, don't I know how to plan my affairs!

Re: Looking for a headphone amp
Did you get your headphone amp Dancing Priest? Thinking about getting HD650's Komplett.ie have them for €270ish which seems fairly good.
Reckon I will need an amp to get the best out of them. I like the idea of a valve amp.
