I think this is worth a listen as well. Shore leave and 16 shells from a thirty-ought Six + myriad other tracks.
Also the one with 'chocolate jesus' I think it is mule variations.

This was my first Waits album. I have a preference for early stuff myself

Listening to this as we speak:

I recently bought this one:

While I love the title track and some of the others melodies and undoubtably good songwriting, I simply can't abide the 'funny voices' stuff he does....I don't get it and find it simply annoying!!
I would love to have more tom Waits stuff if anyone can point to albums that dont include the funny voices? (I also have/like 'Closing Time)

An oldie but a goodie, I bought this cassette (yes, I know) for walkman duty when in college - the commute from naas to dublin every day! Virgin megastore on the quays.....

The tracks on it are all sourced from the years with Johnny Winters in the band, which I happen to think were some of the best recordings Muddy did. Great vibrance etc to the guitars in particular.

Do or do not, there is no try

Nice choice Fran, one of my first exposures to Muddy Waters was Hard Again (on vinyl) Remember "Mannish Boy" in the Levis 501 advert?. I recently got this for €6ish on cd Image.
The Blue sky recordings are certainly vibrant and energetic sounding.
Have a good few blues cassettes at my parents house myself, no player at the moment though. Still have his London Sessions on tape, haven't seem it on cd or vinyl recently either.
