God it's been a long, long time since I gave these albums a listen.Blame Oliver Stone...
They still sound good despite Soft Parade being a little disappointing;Shaman's Blues'
still does it for me though....'There's never gonna be another one like you...'

Funny you should say that about Oliver Stone. I loved The Doors until I went to see that movie. It made Jim look like should a prick I lost all interest after that. It was such a pity cos I really liked them - nearly wore out LA woman and Morrison Hotel. Must give them a spin soon to see has enough time passed to allow me to enjoy them again.
I have found that he is a director that really annoys me - he promised so much early on, but I dunno, he just kind of got under my skin after that.

Do or do not, there is no try
Re: Rock - what are you listening to?
I've given this 4 or 5 listens and as Eamon Dunphy would say 'It a good album not a great album'.While some good tracks alot of average. They have played it really safe and while you will hear alot worse than this,if you compare this to ' Boxer' or even 'Alligator' it's just not as good and I was hoping it would be.cybot wrote:Tower have been playing this one a lot. Exactly! But you really do have to listen without prejudice when it comes to the Doors; what I do is I pretend that I've never heard of them before and just take it from there :-))Fran wrote:Funny you should say that about Oliver Stone. Just as I thought...thanks for that jad :-)
Re: Rock - what are you listening to?
I quite liked the movie but I didn't relate Hollywood Jim to the real Jim. A while back I picked up a "Best of the Doors" CD that someone left in the radio station and it sounded amazing. "Riders on the Storm" is an incredible production.Fran wrote:Funny you should say that about Oliver Stone. I loved The Doors until I went to see that movie.
