God it's been a long, long time since I gave these albums a listen.Blame Oliver Stone...
They still sound good despite Soft Parade being a little disappointing;Shaman's Blues'
still does it for me though....'There's never gonna be another one like you...'

Funny you should say that about Oliver Stone. I loved The Doors until I went to see that movie. It made Jim look like should a prick I lost all interest after that. It was such a pity cos I really liked them - nearly wore out LA woman and Morrison Hotel. Must give them a spin soon to see has enough time passed to allow me to enjoy them again.

I have found that he is a director that really annoys me - he promised so much early on, but I dunno, he just kind of got under my skin after that.

Just got this in the post.Looking forward to a listen.
Tower have been playing this one a lot. Sunday Times album of the week too but that doesn't mean anything to me..
Your opinion (and jonnone's too!) would carry more weight, methinks....so don't forget to let us know what you think, ok.
I've given this 4 or 5 listens and as Eamon Dunphy would say 'It a good album not a great album'.While some good tracks alot of average. They have played it really safe and while you will hear alot worse than this,if you compare this to ' Boxer' or even 'Alligator' it's just not as good and I was hoping it would be.

Exactly! But you really do have to listen without prejudice when it comes to the Doors; what I do is I pretend that I've never heard of them before and just take it from there :-))

I quite liked the movie but I didn't relate Hollywood Jim to the real Jim. A while back I picked up a "Best of the Doors" CD that someone left in the radio station and it sounded amazing. "Riders on the Storm" is an incredible production.
Vinyl -anything else is data storage.
