Haha, not the same ones though, mine were black ash finish.
To be fair to the seller, they are well worth €600. The cherry finish is nicer and I think cost a premium at new. Plus they are probably in better overall condition. His asking isnt over the top by any stretch.

Now that is interesting...Diapason wrote:Not to get dragged into the quagmire here, but just in case anyone's wondering I had the same problem with my System Audio 1280s once (moved them, hands in wrong place, pushed in the tweeter). The hoover held close (without making a seal) to the tweeter did the job no bothers, and there were no adverse audible effects.aa1 wrote:One more thing, one of the tweeters was pushed in.Did you manage to order, receive and install the new one in these 6hours you owned?or you used some secret technology to pop it out?share with your experience, please
I had myself firmly in the ears out of tune brigade...
Having had a similar issue with my B&W's, "fixed" in what I thought was an ingenious compromise with the power of the Hoover... namely a vacu-vin pump...!! just the right size for a tweeter with completely controllable suction!!
I too could not determine which speaker had the repaired tweeter even blind switching...
I am reassured to find you in the same camp Si....

If you have a soft-dome tweeter this is easily enough done - metal dome or concave as some of the newer ones are, its early impossible. A dent might not make that much audible difference - if its not so badly damaged that something inside is damaged then you might just have a different/worse dispersion pattern. You might pick that up as soundstage difference.....
Si - one for you: a 2 year old, a pencil and a nice set of speakers should not be left on their own together at any time.,......

Do or do not, there is no try

Yeah, the SAs were soft-dome. I wouldn't fancy my chances with metal.Fran wrote:If you have a soft-dome tweeter this is easily enough done - metal dome or concave as some of the newer ones are, its early impossible. On a related note, back 100 years ago I borrowed a set of Sonus Fabers from Joe in Cloney, and when I got them home I realised the phase plug on one of the woofers had been pushed in. Worried that I'd damaged them in transit, I called Joe immediately. He told me not to worry, Ron Wood had done it...
Nearly bought the speakers for the story alone!

He certainly was! Last I heard he had set up a place called iHouse and was doing multiroom and home automation stuff. I bought my first plasma from him there. Dunno if that's still going or not, but I suspect not.
