Fergus, I was driving into Fakenham this morning, when Radio 3 were playing Strauss: An Alpine Sinfonie... all the drama toward the end. I wished the journey had been longer than 10 miles... anyway, I thought of you while it was on!
other than this, I have worked my way through Beethoven: Piano Sonatas Nos 1-19 today, and highly delightful its been. About 2 months ago, I did several traversals of the Barenboim EMI set, and its refreshingly encouraging to see how much of them I recall, when turning to the Brendel set, some time later... they are truly majestic...

I thought that this was lovely music making with two lovely performances. The playing is very relaxed and fows beautifully to reflect the nature of the music.

Norfolk is as flat as a pancake... so it bears absolutely no relation to the music whatsoever. Neither nfortunately do I know who was performing it, because I had to get out of the car, a couple of minutes from the end. I have not listened to this one in a while....
Well paced performances that are very well played. The sound of the brass, where used, is particularly engaging. It also has a very good recorder sound captured as well. The musical lines in No. 6 are also very clear.
