Mission 782 in Rosewood

Post by Tweedle12 »

I'm planning a speaker upgrade and would like to offer a nice pair of Mission 782 in matched veneer Rosewood (£80 more expensive, I believe). I have owned these from new (year 2000, I think) and have all original packaging etc. From memory, these cost me £780 and for my asking price of 230 Euro, I believe these to be an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to build a low cost system with great performance.

Both mid range drivers have been replaced with later versions kindly supplied by Mission as the original units had a common fault that does not affect the replacement versions.

These 3 way speakers are fully magnetically shielded, making them excellent for AV or joint HiFi AV use. The LF drivers are positioned on opposite sides, meaning that they offer flexibility in terms of positioning to suit individual room characteristics - drivers can point out or towards each other, thus adjusting bass output.

There are a few minor marks on these here and there from cleaning, but nothing that can be seen from a few feet away. I can upload some photos in the next few days.

These speakers were praised for their open mid-band and surprising dynamics for a compact design. They have remained in my system, despite many upgrades in recent years and easily showed differences in partnering electronics and component changes. I have been very happy with them, but now have the itch to move to something else.

HiFi World commented in Aug 2000 "Solid cabinets and good engineering result in a detailed and punchy sound with deceptively deep bass. Great imaging."

Could deliver within a reasonable distance or courier is possible as I have the packaging.

Happy to answer any questions,

Best wishes,
TD.
