Well tonight I finished (at long last) my new Pass Xono phonostage. It's been a really long build - I encountered a good few niggedly details along the way. But at last its built, boxed, powered and playing!
[Proud papa] And sounding bloody nice too [/proud papa].
This one will do mm and mc carts, variable loading, variable gain, balanced and single ended outputs. Power supply is a really nice super quiet shunt regulator. Transformer in a second box with a 1m umbilical. All wiring is silver in teflon. All nicely selected audiophile parts etc.... in other words it panders nicely to all our fetishes!
I'm kinda hoping that this is the last phonostage I build! Now I can get back to doing the other stuff I've long fingered.......

phew, glad its over!

Any pics Fran?
The whole place is a complete mess. Can't find anything. Right now I'm eating scrambled eggs, with a comb, from a shoe!

Some pics for you:
First up shows the phonostage on the left and the raw power supply on the right. Power supply is in an old PC power supply cage with a wooden front. Actual phonostage is in an old router case - actually a thing of beauty in itself.
This one shows the inside of the phonostage. The shunt power supply is that board with the big heatsinks to the front, and then the other 2 boards are the actual phonostage, one for each channel. There's facility for MM, MC with variable loading and capacitance, and for balanced and single ended output. I only wired it for MC and single ended output.
Another view of the same:

It's a dual mono design? Looks lovely... where do the valves go? ;)

Looks great(As usual :-))How does it sound? Are the old psu power supplies a usefull sources of clean power? What sort of modifications do they need to be put to good use?
