Best way to organise multi-disk works : Playlists ?

Hello,

I am wonderring how to deal with ripping CD box sets which contain works that span multiple CD's. [Example : I have a set of Mahler symphonies -- the live Bernstein rcordings -- and some of the CD's have parts of more then one symphony and some symphonies use more than one CD].

I am using a Squeezbox [and SqueezServer].

I have the CD's ripped to CD1, CD2, CD3 etc ...

I could make new folders/directories called SYM1, SYM2, etc and move the appropriate tracks for each symphony into the appropriate folder/directory.

Is that the best way to do things or should I create playlists ? I have never actually used a playlist and I am not too sure how they work ?.

Thanks

James

The above set shows the problem .. there are 11 disks and the symphonies are split across the CD's to save space. I really want things organised by symphony rather than as discs ....
