Looking for borrowing a Quad of KT120 valves

Post by sdiesel77 »

Hi Guys,
I heard lots of good reviews on the KT120 valves and would love to try them few hours on my amp before buying a Quad.
Anybody who could help? Ideally around Dublin or Kildare :)

Cheers

Hi,

I have none of those (KT120) unfortunately, as I am not sure if my Graff will take safely KT120. There is a discussion about using KT120 instead of KT88 regarding this amp, but it's all not cleared, Graff as the company are gone while ago so there is nobody responding on e-mails.
I am not going to risk braking the amp, but I wished I could try too.
I am keen to try few different KT88 tubes instead of my Sovteks too some time. I tried to replace KT88 for 6550 C wined by Svetlana but found them too linear and not as colourful in the midrange as well as with inferior extension on both ends.
What KT88 are you using right now? You mentioned that you found reissue Gold Lion to be unreliable?

Regards
Maciej

At the moment using Psvane KT88 Treasure Mk2, quite happy with them but I'd still like to give a try at the KT120 :p
