Re: Record fair
I'll probably be there tomorrow for a browse.
I've attended most of these fairs in Dublin over the past few years - a few observations:
1. There are very few bargains in vinyl these days (unless you need yet another copy of Bread's Greatest Hits.) That said, 1970s US rock and singer-songwriters seems to be out of fashion so if you like Little Feat, Doobie Brothers, Randy Newman, Jackson Browne etc., you should be able to pick up something.
2. UK dealers generally offer better value than local ones (and they'll do deals more willingly.)
3. Don't forget to look in the boxes on the floor - under the stands. Its' back breaking but can be rewarding!
4. CD selections are generally poor and not rare at all (usually just standard budget stuff.) I still can't find original CD pressings of Graham Parker's Heat Treatment or Al Stewart's Year of The Cat on the Fame label!
5. Few if any dealers have hi-rez (SACD, DVD-AUDIO etc.) Most of them don't know what you're talking about if you ask.
6. Finally - they couldn't give away ELO albums until recently. Now that they're hip again, watch those prices rise!
