DIY Electrostatic speaker

For all the adventurous out there, I just came across these kits for building ESLs for reasonably cheap prices (what do ESL cost secondhand?) per stereo pair from €870 to €1400 depending on size - just build a frame :) http://elektrostaten-selbstbau.de/preise

I believe this is a review of a retail pair of the Silverstatic speakers €7,900 which seems to have some unique features - they are full range panels (42Hz - 18KHz). 81dB/2.83 Volt/1 m sensitivity and an impedance that "tanks". I say you'd need some ss muscle amps behaving as almost perfect voltage source.

Just to be clear you don't get the reviewed speaker rrp €7900 for €1400 in kit form, am I right?

I honestly am not sure - I followed a link that seem to show they were the same internals - the only thing needed was the frame. The company name Silver Static appears at the bottom of the DIY pages & the name of the reviewed speakers are Silberstatic.

I hadn't looked at the sensitivity & impedance load but was more taken by the seemingly innovative approach & relatively full range nature of the electrostatic panels.

I really don't know if they represent good VFM, just thought they might be of interest here as many are fond of ESLs
