Interesting but several years ago a magazine (it might have been one of the hi-fi monthlies but I am not sure) had a feature about Major J.E.M. Ruffers (the shotgun shooting coach) house which had similar caverns in the basement. These were bass horns for his hi-fi system. Seemingly the sound was awesome.

Just wondering if it would be possible to have a listen to this stuff and literally "feel" the bass. Maybe I should drop the guy email before I plan my trip to Italy...
