Is it possible to stream from a nas to an Xp laptop with jriver as a player?
Tried googling and can't really find an answer can anyone point me in the right direction trying out jriver but still haven't got to grips with the menus yet.
Jriver synology nas
Re: Jriver synology nas
Not sure about 'stream' in the true sense of the word but I have a synology nas connected via ethernet to a pc that runs jriver. All you do is point jriver to the directory where the music is stored and jriver will take care of the rest. Very simple solution and elegant if you have lots of music.
You could quibble that you might get better sound quality if you store the music on ssd, locally on the playback pc - thereby avoiding ethernet - but sometimes that's just not practical.

Re: Jriver synology nas
Thanks crom never thought of that but I would have to get another nas as there's no line in the room where equipments are.
I wonder if you can use the synology ds audio player and bypass the laptop altogether if connected directly through usb but I doubt it.
