Yes indeed. I wonder what we can do to encourage posts and discussion? Obviously the CA part is very active, but really it's its own little place with not much interest for the innocent bystander. Has everyone else run for the hills or are people still reading?
For what it's worth, I'm getting very very itchy on the speaker front. Not sure how to scratch said itch, though.

Granted we're a small community but that's even more reason to make just a little effort to keep this place alive and interesting. Jesus I remember the original forum was hopping everyday (pre recession days in fairness)

That tumbleweed does look familiar..... unfortunately.
And yes apart from the CA section which has lots of activity.... the traditional forum seems to have died a bit... no died a lot.
Not sure if we are doing something wrong, or does the forum activity reflect the demise of the traditional Hi Fi seperates business or is it the age profile of the members? Do we need more young blood or is it the case that younger bloods just don't post anymore? I don't know?
I mean what would it take to get a lot of people posting? Only seems to happen when somebody is in open discussion about buying something really big.
I'm guessing that there's not a lot of movement in the gear of more established members, most folks have reasonable speakers, amps and front end. So nobody is heavily pursuing the upgrade trail with some notable exceptions of course. Any significant upgrade is horrendously expensive , like a nice pair of Avantgarde horns for example.
The Computer Audiophile area is vibrant and fast changing due to innovators like Gordon (SBGK) of MQN, the irrepressible Nigel and JK himself. MQN is moving so fast that something downloaded tonight might have been overtaken by 3 or 4 new editions by morning. The rapidly moving MQN/PC development trail also shows what can be got from existing equipment for very little money. Existing amps and speakers can deliver a lot more than we ever suspected, way more than cable upgrades etc.
It's really up to those who think it's lethargic to get stuck in with innovation , useless interventions, meet-ups , flame wars etc,
over to you Tony....

What you talking about Ken is there a flame war starting on this thread. Just show me and I am ready. The classical thread always seems very active but Ken is right on the other gear. CDp's are dying. There is no young generation they can't see or hear this forum it ain't on facebook or snap chat.
I think Ken is right very little movement of gear as it is all generally expensive. Having said that I have spoke with people and engaged in pm's on potential purchases.Sometimes people don't want to ask questions in the open forum for whatever reason.
Hopefully these things go in cycles and will start up again. It was such fun when Davef had his hifi meltdown a few years ago can somebody else not take the plunge in that direction? Simon it is about time you went mad and purchased a Graaf phono stage or gyrodec thingy
I fear that the classical music thread is dying too. We still have Mark, Aleg, Fergus, Dave, Simon and Pepe who post from time to time but it is not in a healthy state. We have lost our English and American friends. I regularly post articles in the classical thread but they rarely elicit a response. I might take myself back to CMG instead.

Its possible too that the amount of traffic in the CA threads (which I for one can't keep up with) might also put some people off.
I think Kens point too about many members growing together over the last few years to having pretty darn good systems means that movement/change inevitably is a more rare event.
Yis could all post more!! Probably more posts in this thread than many others.
The one thing we all still have in common is a love for music. I mentioned way back when that I would prefer single treads for music, not broken up into each genre but the consensus at the time was that the genre approach was preferred. I'd prefer classical and everything else. There has been the many times I wanted to post to a music thread only not to be able to figure out which thread to post on!
Last was this wonderful album by Christine Tobin:
of covers of Leonard Cohen songs
