g) Commercial sellers should approach any of the moderation team in advance of posting. First time commercial posts without moderator contact will be removed.

Just a few questions about the 288, how old is the unit and what price range did you have in mind?
You mention the laser mechanism was refurbished, how long ago was that? I don't know much about Copland players but is the 288 a sucessor to the 823?

The 288 is a nineties CD player the laser was replaced 2 years ago and I don't use the CD player very much. I suggest you Google if you want reviews. The price when new is also on line, 288s rarely come up by the way. Your welcome to come back to me but it will not be a bargain, when you know about it you can make me an offer if it's of serious interest.

Adrian In answer to your question about the 288, Copland it is the best they ever made, if you cant' afford one try for a Teac VRDS 10 with an Audiosyntheses DAC. I had that set up before the 288. If you do come back to me I will PM a price. Regards Sydney.

Let's look at the 823 cd player inside. By the way he use Teac PC transport drive instead VRDS
They are very different sounding machines :)

Hi Adrian, The 288 was produced before the 823 Wadia continue to use the vrds ransport and Esoteric which IS Teac using that brand name. I am not pushing the 288 I don't need to, Copland probably stopped using the VRDS transport due to cost. I can only suggest you check Wadia and Esoteric. My final comment which might help you is that whether you find a an 823 or an 822 or otherwise I can truly tell you that the VRDS transport which was developed in the the 1980s has never been surpassed for accuracy reliability since , and it is a massive transport. I could have bought an 822 and did not because it did not have a VRDS transport. Please do your own research as I have no wish to say anymore.

Since you quoted me earlier I feel I have the right to clarify something here....
When I was looking to upgrade my Copland 288 I was lucky enough to be able to connect up an Esoteric X-03SE a Wadia 823 and my much loved Copland 288 to one amp simultaneously. A rare opportunity to do a pure A-B-C test on the three players.
Now near in mind that the 288 was (even second hand) roughly 1/10 of the price of the Wadia or Esoteric so I wasn't expecting the 288 to come anywhere close.
My findings were very clear and confirmed by several other listeners. The Wadia and Esoteric were actually quite close in sound to each other and were clearly "better" players than the Copland. The Copland, while still a very impressive machine, couldn't deliver the same level of detail or bass control as the other two 'super machines'. The price difference was such that I couldn't justify such a huge price for so little gain but nonetheless the Copland was clearly the lesser of the three players. In the end I went elsewhere as I was looking for a less digital sound.
In conclusion... yes the 288 is a superb machine but the Wadia and Esoteric are even better... although about ten times the price.
