Ah, I didn't know the name of that dude, but I know the face and the style!
Question: the Zappa vid in that video is utterly awesome IMO. Where can I hear more Zappa like this? Which albums do I need?

Sad to hear of his passing - great contribution to 70's music and a big part of my youth.Diapason wrote:Ah, I didn't know the name of that dude, but I know the face and the style!

Re Zappa.
For a similar sound and line up to the video try:
Apostrophe
Overnite Sensation
One size fits all (highly recommended)
Roxy and Elsewhere
For more great playing from George Duke try Canon Re*loaded - great band including Duke, Marcus Miller, Tom Scott, Steve Gadd.
Mark.

Re: George Duke 1946-2013
'Hot Rats' is an album worth seeking out.
Most of Zappa's music would be less blues based than the track on the video. It would be more jazz/ fusion in style. The lyrics are also very important to his music.

Re: George Duke 1946-2013
Thank you gentlemen. As I've said before, I really admire Zappa, but I know his output is so variable in style that I find it hard to get a handle on what I might enjoy. The out-there wacky stuff probably isn't for me.
