RIP Marie-Claire Alain

Post by Diapason »

Facebook is reporting the death of Marie-Claire Alain, a colossus of the organ world, and the last surviving sibling of the superb composer Jehan Alain, whose life was cut short during WWII. I believe she had been suffering from Alzheimers so had stepped away from the touring circuit in recent years, but she had an astonishingly long-lived career. Sad news.

Sad indeed. I've been enjoying her Bach enormously. RIP

Very sad to read that news. I have one of her JS Bach cycles which I enjoy hearing; she let the music shine through without any colouration.
