Hey Guys,

I was wondering if any of you had a digital stroboscope (or similar) to measure my turntable platter rotation speed ?

I have printed this paper strob disc but I don't know how to use it and not sure it's really accurate..

"Traditionally, speed testing of turntables has been done by viewing a series of bands on the turntable platter under mains lighting. The frequency of the mains supply (50Hz in Europe / 60Hz in the US) causes the bands to appear stationary at the desired speed and adjustment can be made using the turntables speed controller (if fitted)."

A flourescent lamp might be the answer but this is only a guess......

Ordinary mains lighting worked perfectly for me....

Why would you need another tool? BTW here's another method (Fran mentioned it a while back):

Turntable speed : a simple calculation:

Time : 3 mins
RPM : 100

Reason: 

TT runs at 33 and one third rev. per minute.

Therefore if you multiply 33 and one third by 3 = 100 rpm

So you simply set the timer for three minutes and the tt should revolve 100 times when the time is up.....Neat?

Not a bad idea, actually I tried the printed stob disc under mains lights and it seems to work.

Now I have to check if I can or not change my motor speed, otherwise I might think about putting a variable R

Tried this last weekend and worked perfectly ! It showed that my TT is rotating at the perfect speed :D
