RIP Malcolm McClaren

Post by Ivor »

He wasn't always right, his music wasn't always very good but he was always interesting. Something his peers could rarely manage.

Without him there would have been no Sex Pistols.... and that, in hindsight, would have been unthinkable.

What a shame! I never liked his brash pushiness, but had to admire his vision and media savviness.

What a Man He was.
Surely one of the greatest self publicists ever.
And, I'm sure, a great influence on many artists, performers and musos everywhere.
An entertainer no doubt.
A likeable rogue and a chancer. We need people like Malcolm to keep us on our toes and down to earth.

And some of his music was kinda fun.

I think that at the time the Sex Pistols were interesting and contraversial and a lot of that was down to him. Maybe he was really the greatest "anti-punk" around ?

So thank God for the Punks who rose around and about the 'Pistols. He must have influenced so many people - even if it was to rail against his system too.

Have to finish my TT quickly. Need to get some Grrrrr music spinning.

RIP Malcom McClaren.

S'funny that
To mark the sad occasion, I played Madade Butterfly (un bel di vedromo) Fri nite on the radio & got an unprecedented txt reaction. The old chancer had lots of (closet?) "fans" (bad pun that)
