Hi, I am moving house & will no longer have room for 2 seperate systems, or in fact a large 5.1 channel speaker system. Long story short, I want to consolidate my two systems into one good 5.1 system. I will list all the equipment I have, all of it is up for sale or swap for good/interesting equipment that you might have.
Updated:26/6/12
Martin Logan Ascent speakers. Not the slightly newer 'i' version. Maple side cheeks, not mint but in good condition. Offers on €1200
Denon A1D surround amplifier, great piece of kit, a keeper if no-one comes up with something better! Champagne colour, original box & manual. Offers on €400
Jamo THX LCRone 5.2 channel speaker system. Yes 5.2, I haven't gone mad, two passive 12" subs, really a very good system but the satellites are too large to accomidate in my new place. Offers on €500
High end 2ch sys, sell or swap for 5.1 equip. ALL SOLD

Re: Prices added! High end 2ch sys, sell or swap for 5.1 equi
Good point Ivor! I left out prices because I would primarily like to swap the kit for kit more relevant to my new requirements. Deals with a few quid in either direction wouldn't be a problem though!
I don't suppose you have anything yourself that might tickle my fancy!? :)

But you told me you loved me!!? :) Haha
I'll take that as a no then, ah you're no use to me, this relationship is OVER!
Getting back to the hi-fi, no-one out there with some nice multichannel that want's to go down the 'proper' hi-fi route!? :)

I have an Onkyo 7.1 amp that needs a repair. The HDMI daughterboard is slow to 'handshake' with inputs. It's a cracking sounding amp. I'll be getting it repaired soon anyway. I replaced it with a Yamaha RX671 and while it's really nice it's no better than the Onkyo soundwise. I'll be leaving it out to the HiFi hospital next week. I have no idea of price until I get it repaired.Vorious wrote:But you told me you loved me!!? :) Haha

Hi Ivor,
What model is the Onkyo? How much would you be looking for it 'as is'? I'll most likely be handling all my hdmi switching through a seperate matrix switch, so the HDMI fault wouldn't concern me. But if the Onkyo is no better than the Denon A1D in terms of sound quality, then there's no point in me changing! Depends on the model I suppose, let me know what it is.
Cheers,
Greg

I can't see the Onkyo being better, particularly if you really like the Denon. I'm at a slight loss as to why you're offering the Denon - it seems like a keeper particularly in your your new setup. I only mentioned the Onkyo as it's here.Vorious wrote:Hi Ivor,

Re: Prices added! High end 2ch sys, sell or swap for 5.1 equi
Yeah you could be right Ivor, the Denon is a lovely piece of kit, the only reason I'd let it go is to get something like a Rotel RSP1098/RMB1095 pre/power combo, which I used to have before, or an Arcam AV9/P7 combo. You know, something proper nice! ;)
The system I end up with will all depend on what equipment of mine sells & what comes up for grabs at decent money. I could end up using a lot of what I have, but 120W valve amps to small satellite speakers could be regarded as overkill! haha

Hi, You can often pick up used AV8s (I am not sure about the P7) for as little as $1000 on Audiogon. I used to use an Arcam AV8 and Rotel RMB combo because while I thought the AV8 was worth the money at the time, I didn't think the P7 was and the Rotel was a better bang for the buck.
As for the AV9 as far as I know the AV9 becomes only a switching device for HDMI, and does not do any processing of either audio or video… it will only pass it through to your TV. Meaning that the new audio formats (True HD, Dolby-whoozie-whatsits, DTS HD…) will not be available via HDMI.
