Eircom music hub

Post by Diapason »

I'm an idiot for not signing up to this before. It's pretty damn good considering it's free. (I don't do the illegal downloading thing when it comes to music, so maybe my appreciation of a streaming service is quaint to the rest of you!!)

It's pretty good alright - and it's made me buy a couple of albums (including Dawes, A Girl Called Eddy and First Aid Kit!) Does anyone know what the actual quality of the stream is? (Hard to tell on my tinny Dell computer speakers.)

I just signed up for a trial of Music Unlimited on the PS3. So far it is working really well. Lots of Danish music on it that I never get a chance to access over here. It is 9.99 euro a month which I think is a bit steep but I will pay considering the selection. The quality sounds ok through my PS3/Yamaha HT amp/PMC DB1+. Not close to CD replay through my main system but I will test out the sound tonight on that. What I like is the chance to listen to a CD a few times before I buy. Also the chance to revisit old Danish stuff that I have sold most of before I moved over and really have no intention re-buying. The other benefit is access to all the oldies stuff that I really would be VERY choosy about purchasing (and storing!).

Only caveat: I am against pirating but giving my money to Sony feels nearly worse! Hmmm... :(

I have been using it for the last year or so.It costs me 5.99 a month & I get 15 songs a month to download .I rarely use these as I prefer to have an album than just a song.I find it very handy to have a listen to new stuff & decide if it's for me .I have my laptop through a Cambridge Audio Dacmagic & I think it sounds good.
