camcorder with good audio recording capability

I'm not sure if this fits here but it does have "audio" in the title.

I have my old Sony mini DV camcorder, used to snap the kids being little darlings in oh so many different situations.

Now one of the darlings is in the classic garage band and now getting the odd gig - early on Saturdays or Sundays in "The Pint and even "the Sugar club " after Christmas.

Generally not being asked for anything bar the odd CD and couple of euro I've now been asked would I like to be "The Rafter's" official chronicler.

What I need is a HD camcorder, good in dim light with a good quality mic (or an easy option of one). Some basic editing software would also be useful.

I don't want to go Amazon or Pixmania as it's a good idea to leave some money in the country this year.

I'd like suggestions of either the camera to get or even better the shop to go to, staffed with people with the knowledge to answer my query. If my experience of buying a TV is anything to go by this sort of establishment is in short supply.

-Or is anyone, upgrading their current one?
