Best way to organise/store CDs

Post by Rocker »

As the title says, what is the best way to organise and store a collection of CDs. Obviously alphabetically, but which way: Dire Straits is it 'D' or 'S', The Beatles 'T' or 'B', Booker T.....you get the picture.

Suggestions please.
It's OK, if there is no bread I will eat cake.

Did you ever see the movie high fidelity? The guy is always reorganising his collection. Eventualy he does it autobiographically!! ie by the major events in his life!

But seriously: Alphabetically, bands starting with "the" I go by next word (so beatles would be under B). Actual artist name by surname. Separate categories for various artists, soundtracks, compilations, classical. Didn't ever separate into genres, so rock blues etc mixed together.

The storage on the PC follows the same system.
