Ten Years After: cricklewood green
Lyle Lovett: joshua judges ruth
Depeche Mode: sounds of the universe

They span 40 years between the oldest one (1970) and the most recent one (2009) and they cover very different genres. It was a good evening listening session.

I always rated "Joshua Judges Ruth" highly.
Some of they very best musicians around are on that album.
I'm now off to dig it out for a listen.
I have Joshua Judges Ruth on vinyl, it was a UK release only in 1992!

My wife always jokes that whenever she hears "North Dakota" playing she knows I'm testing out new gear. After all this time, she listened to the album in full on a flight last week and loved it. It's obviously having a moment.
Right! Whenever I play one Lovett record I can see my system smiling...

I remember first seeing Lyle on "The Session" on RTE way back..must've been late 80's or very early 90's. A guy with big hair singing counrty tinged songs with a cello player in tow :-) Joshua Judges Ruth is great. Also, I Love Everybody and Pontiac. A great songwriter

I never gave up on vinyl, never switched to CD. So the nineties to about 2009 were rich pickings for me, for new and secondhand vinyl!

I never gave up on vinyl, just one "hard to get" release!
Given I worked a lot in radio and writing reviews I relied on CDs from record companies. Actual listening pleasure was, and is, always vinyl.

I got dog's abuse from my 'hi-fi/vinyl friends' for not getting with it when CD came out. Guess who's laughing now.

Freebird and Comet were the go to shops back in the day. Also Chapters when they were in Middle Abbey Street (opposite) Arnotts, then later on the same side as Arnotts!

You're toying with my memories here, ticking off my lunch time walk destinations. Flipping through records, rack after rack hoping for and on occasion finding a gem.

On CD this morning, I'm running a Copland player through it's paces on behalf of a member of this parish, a lovely player.
