This is only other Tubby Hayes I have. Again on Gearbox Records. Featuring the then little known Louis Stewart. It certainly didn’t do his subsequent career any harm.

Yesterday I went digging for cheap second hand CDs in a local store, and for less than 15 euro I found:

Ten Years After: cricklewood green
Lyle Lovett: joshua judges ruth
Depeche Mode: sounds of the universe

They span 40 years between the oldest one (1970) and the most recent one (2009) and they cover very different genres. It was a good evening listening session.

Best

I always rated "Joshua Judges Ruth" highly.
Some of they very best musicians around are on that album.
I'm now off to dig it out for a listen.
NigeAmp, NigeSD DAC, Airtight ATM-4, Ruark Accolades, Pink Triangle TT, Roksan Artimiz, Clearaudio Discovery, Tom Evans Microgroove Plus, Fran DAC, Dalkey Audio Interconnects.

To my mind, Cricklewood Green is the most complete TYA album. Other albums were patchy, with a couple of crackers and others that I barely dropped the stylus on, but there's something good to hear on every track on Cricklewood Green. Nice finds there for €15!

My wife always jokes that whenever she hears "North Dakota" playing she knows I'm testing out new gear. After all this time, she listened to the album in full on a flight last week and loved it. It's obviously having a moment.

I used to have that Lyle album and, yes, I have to agree it’s a good ‘un’.

As regards Ten Years After I’ve always been a fan. Absolutely love the Live stuff particularly Undead. I used to own Cricklewood long before I cottoned on to how good they were. My most complete studio album of theirs has to the first one which I only managed to get recently. Mono too and it’s only glorious. I know it’s ‘only’ a Rhino repress but still…..
