Well, well, well :-) To tell the truth I'm more interested in how you substituted the word 'here' for the link. I've tried it before but it didn't work :-(fergus wrote:I would be too coy to tell you but I will merely direct you here!!!cybot wrote:.... BTW I've never actually found out what UMMAGUMMA actually means!?!? It doesn't have to mean anything, I'm just saying....
Favourite Lp Sleeves...

Re: Favourite Lp Sleeves...
Ciaran explained it to me some time ago.
Set up the URL brackets
Copy the URL address and paste into the URL brackets http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... =ummagumma
Remove the bracket after the fist url and replace it with =
Then, just prior to the lass URL insert the bracket that you have just removed followed by any message that you want [urlhttp://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ummagumma]Dermot is Fab[/url]
I deliberately left out = at the start just to show you, as in Dermot is Fab

Re: Favourite Lp Sleeves...
That's absolutely shocking Fergus, and on a family site too!
This from the font of all knowledge that is Wikipedia:
The album's title supposedly comes from a Cambridge slang word for sex, commonly used by one of Pink Floyd's friends and occasional roadie, Ian "Emo" Moore, who would say 'I'm going back to the house for some ummagumma'.[1] However, some band members have since stated that the word was "totally made up and means nothing at all".[2] In footage of the band rehearsing for a Royal Albert Hall appearance in 1969, one of the band members can be heard, off camera, quietly chanting the word "ummagumma
BTW, here's one album I wouldn't want to find in my Christmas stocking

And one that beggars belief!

Thanks Fergus it worked out a treat! Didn't work the first time because I forgot to put in the = in the place of the first right hand bracket....

Thanks for that Johnny.....those covers do actually beggar belief! Wonder is that a Nick Drake grave she's standing over ;-) Thinking about awful sleeves the worse ones for me were either the James Last sleeves or especially the 100 best classical 'tunes' Lps - I forget the actual title but the depiction of domestic harmony around the 'stereo' is hilarious....

Re: Favourite Lp Sleeves...
Certainly with you on those, Dermot. I'll also throw in Bert Kampfert and Mantovani. However, have a look at this site, some of the Far Eastern and South American sleeves are unbelievably bad.cybot wrote:JAW wrote:That's absolutely shocking Fergus, and on a family site too!

2/2006 - fall - smash ankle - 3 weeks hospital - 8 plates - 9 screws - 9 months crutches - limp along.cybot wrote: Best wishes on the old toe too; What was the problem and how long will you be lying up?
5/2008 - bit of knee bone into ankle - new bolt through ankle - 6 months crutches - limp along.
3/2011 - bigger bit of knee bone into ankle- 2 more bolts through ankle - remove 2 broken screws from cage around heel - Huge cast - ? months crutches ? - limp ? A bit probably. Remains to be seen.
Itchy knee ? Damn right. It's meltin' me head.
Some serious pain killer stuff recently so perhaps a little ranty or ravy here over the last couple of weeks. Some days are lost now.
Back to work now, no driving yet though, so dependant for lifts, and way cut back on the pain relief.
Thanks for asking Dermot [ bet you're sorry you did].
Take care,
Gerry
