They look great Fran even in the chipboard finish, the legs seem very unobtrustive, I think that a couple of cable clips on the rear leg could hide cables to a certain extent. Alternately on the side cheeks where the two screws are fixed to esl, instead you could have one screw, washer and slot which would allow the esl itself to pivot. Slot would probably have to be a certain lenght to avoid too much of a pivot and risk of tipping. Sorry about quality of illustration but I think you should get idea

I haven't got back to this since, but I have a good idea for the back leg - and the plan is that the cables would clip down along that leg. There will also be adjustment on that back leg to allow the speakers to go anywhere between vertical and about the original rake.

So I got a bit of time tonight and cut out the blanks for the legs etc:

Next now I need to use the templates to rout back the edges. I couldn't find the router bit (typical!) so I might just take the opportunity to pick up a new one.

Rear legs look interesting intrigued to see how it work, I'm sure it will be an elegant, simple solution, a wild guess on my part but I'd imagine some sort of nano technology wedded to state of the art cryohydrolics and some form of mathematical engine to control the heat dissapation and attitudenal calculations involve, either that or a well placed dowel. I'm off to the Baltic sea for a couple of weeks, looking forward to seeing more Fran.

Routing and test fittings now done. Its onward to sanding and finishing for this set now. I need to get myself some nice replacement woodscrews too, but I think I'll pick those up handy enough.

I think the key thing with these stands is that it will be very easy to play around with the rake. Like burger king, you can have it your way... and its very easy to do.

So the way its shaping up, the procedure to fit these will be easy:
1. Put speaker face down on soft cloth.
2. Remove cheeks and existing feet.
3. Fit new back leg - it will screw in where the old back leg was. fit adjustment spike. Although you won't be reusing the screws or feet, I recommend you put all the screws and feet into a bag for safekeeping.
4. Fit one side leg, bolting through the original quad side cheek, then repeat for the other side. There is an extra screw here - and it is best to drill out a pilot hole for it if at all possible.
5. Make sure all screws are snug and stand upright. Adjust levelling spike so that the speaker has the desired rake. Plug back in speaker and allow to charge
6. Enjoy!

One advantage of these over the Sheldon Stokes ones is that you don't have to take off the back wire grille to fit/remove them. So its actually reasonably easy to reverse the mod.
