Funny you should mention this, Tony, I've just spent my lunch break reading all about the 1500, and trying to get a sense of whether it's worth it. It's certainly a more attractive price than PS Audio or equivalent, which I definitely couldn't stretch to. My monos draw 400w each (whether playing or not) so I'd need the bigger one. Might send Pearse a PM and ask how he's getting on with it.

The more I think about it, the more I feel it might be time to sell the Quads (which I still never listen to) to try to release some budget for this. At the moment I enter the mancave with trepidation, as I just don't know what I'm going to get, and that's a bit pointless.

I reckoned the 1500 was needed also just to give headroom and probably better parts. They might have a sale after xmas you never know. I want to get one at some stage as Pearse suggested they would protect the amp transformers. Can see the logic and during the celtic tiger days would be snapped up by now. Annoying thing is this kit was selling for much less originally I think about €400 and that would be a lot more palatable.

Yeah, it's annoying to see the price creeping up. Wouldn't be the first time I've missed the boat.

http://www.hifiwigwam.com/showthread.ph ... Generator/

Good thread on wigwam about this power generator. I wonder would it be worth seeing if there was interest in a group buy and approaching the shop? Can always wait until the new year and see do they have a sale anyway. No idea how the group buys work.Is it just a pyramid scheme where one person runs off with all the money?

Another website tried the group buy thing post Wam offer and could only get 5% off. Better than nothing of course, but possibly not worth the hassle. Power Inspired claimed that the person who advertised the offer on the Wam got a bit of a rap on the knuckles.

Definitely intrigued by this product and the reviews both locally and online.

Not worth that messing around for 5%. I think the small one would work for me. The price is cheaper on their site compared to ebay that's assuming it is the same thing as there is some mention of batteries. Pearse has planted the seed re protecting the transformers on my amp as the sensible reason for going for it.When you see what happened to markof one now has a compelling logic and reasons to discuss with financial controllers

One of the joys of getting older one can have a laugh at the problems facing the younger fitter faster generation. In your case Simon you will need an electric fence shortly to protect your equipment. Worries about bad sound will be the least of your issues. Having said that Anne advised she was considering a family get together. This immediately created a panic attack and I am already preparing battle plans to protect my equipment.

The approach I take in the cave. It's for everyone's own safety, doncha know. Lethal voltages in that room.
