OK, so I met DavidMc today and picked up the template. Tonight I got a chance to knock up a rough wooden copy of the side cheeks in some MDF.

so heres a pic of the MDF template on one of my quads. You can see that the new cheeks are about 50mm shorter than my existing stands (based on the sheldon stokes ones at quadesl.org). Maybe more importantly though, I think that this type of stand means that we will need to keep so bit of slope on the quads. My existing ones kinda leave the speaker vertical.

I think I will continue on a make up a set, then I can compare the stokes ones to the new ones....

Quick work Fran!!

Would a tilt on the speakers affect the sound in any significant way?

Tilted forward = smoother sound
Tilted backward = brighter sound

Tilted forward = smoother sound
Tilted backward = brighter sound
....by way of comparison with the vertical position I assume?
Thanks for that BTW.

My vertical ones are very refined - I wouldn't like to lose that.....

Jeebus Fran, very fast work indeed. Can see from design that the more vertical the you go the more the chance your going to tip, so a slight rake seems inevitable.
