No no I have been using the IMAGES section of the google web engine and the yahoo web engine.
If I go to google, type in thorens turntable, then select images I get a lot of images of TT's,
Then I select a particular image but it opens in a kind of slideshow where I can scroll from left to right and lots of images of various Thorens TT swish past.
I didn't have this problem in windows.
I am beginning to suspect it must be a setting on how web search results are displayed, hence the address bar is unusable for me.

Ok hold on a minute now....
You mentioned click FULL SIZE IMAGE TOP RIGHT
I can't find that option on the screen
Why is it that when I select an image it goes to this silly slideshow?

Re: Using Ipad to post images
Ok this worked,
I google car,
Selected images
Selected one image and the stupid slide show opened up
Then at the bottom of the screen where the details of the image which included the web address of the image
So I tapped on the web site address,
The where the images of certain cars on this site,
Selected one car image And picked the save image button
Then went to tirnahifi and paste the image between the image brackets

Re: Using Ipad to post images
Ok I think I have some sort of work around with this problem. But it appears that I have to go through a search twice, google to get the images, then select an image I want, the stupid slide show opens, at the bottom of the slide show it shows the address for the image on display then go to the website for the selected image and then copy the image from the site.
I thought apple computers where supposed to be easier to use than windows?
Ther must be a way to turn off this silly slideshow, I think that is what is messing the whole thing up.

Re: Using Ipad to post images
Because they seem to cause confusion, I'm just going to make a few general comments before dealing with your exact query, Adrian. This is long, but I hope it might be helpful.
General note on including pictures in posts.
When you're posting an image using the [ i m g ] [ / i m g ] tags, whatever goes between them MUST be a link to an actual image, not a webpage with the image on it. The link to the actual, underlying image is often slightly more difficult to get these days because google (and other pages) take the image and put it in "user-friendly" wrappers to make it look like a slideshow, or to make it stand out from the page or some other crap. A true, actual image page contains an image and nothing else.
Here's a general rule: if you've copied a link to an actual image it will end in .jpg or something similar (.gif, or .tif maybe). If it doesn't end in one of these things, it's not going to work between the [ i m g ] tags. Don't bother trying, it won't work.
Also, remember that those tags are only meant for displaying images that are already elsewhere online. They can't be used to directly paste an image from a camera, or an image you've COPIED from a website or anything like that. In fact, what goes between the tags is just a link to another place on the web, and at that place on the web there's an image and nothing else. If you put the link address into your browser you'd see an image and nothing else. The [ i m g ] tags are exactly like any normal link to another web page, except they tell your browser to display the underlying image rather than the link to it. If the image isn't on a web page with an address you can write into your browser, don't use the [ i m g ] tags.
As to the specific query, when I use my (android) phone or tablet to do a google image search, once I click on whatever image I want it takes me to the slideshow thing mentioned above. From here you've a couple of options:
1) You can tap the link again to get the option of "Full size image" in the top right corner. Click that and you'll be brought to a new web page with the underlying image. The address bar should show a link ending in .jpg. Put that address between the [ i m g ] and [ / i m g ] tags in your post and bingo!
2) If you tap the bottom of the "slideshow" style page, it will bring you to the webpage containing the image. Hold your finger on that image (rather than tapping it) and in Android world at least you get a variety of options popping up. One option is "View image", which is what you want here. Once again that will bring you to a new web page with only the underlying image in it. Once again, put the contents of the address bar between the tags and bingo.
Method 2 (long click on an image, followed by view image) will work for most images you find online that just exist on standard web pages. This is the method I generally use from my phone.

Re: Using Ipad to post images
Hi Simon,
Many thanks for the reply, its strange, but when using the mouse on a windows pc or laptop when I click on a image it takes me direct to that image on the web page.
But with touch screen on the iPad I have to go through this double search rigmarole.
However Jaybee on the iPhone did not have this problem.
However I am not getting this option of full size image no matter where I tap the screen.
The option that works is the one you have described in point 2 of your post. Except for the iPad when I hold my finger on the image up pops a small option box saying save image or copy image.
On returning to the forum I just paste between the [][] image brackets and hey presto the image is there. But I don't copy the address, it seems to know that automatically.
Anyway we have the work around, if I discover any other ideas I will let you guys know.
Cheers for the help chaps!!!!

Definitely losing the will to live here despite all your sterling efforts to explain this. It will not work on my iPad! I've had this problem since I installed the updated software ages ago. So it will work with my 'old' iTouch and my little wife's gen. 2 iPad! Anyway......I tried everything recommended above and I can't get the blasted thing to work! The only time it worked was when I copied jb's link. Couldn't believe it! And as Simon says the .jpg extension must be present. For some reason I don't get that extension! For example, if I try to paste an Lp image from Amazon it doesn't work! See below: This is done by clicking on the image which is then enlarged and then copying the link. No .jpg extension! Also copying the image will not work either! The second example is done the same way but this time I touch 'save image' which gives me a link to the photo. HELP!

Cybot, if you go to the page you link above, click larger image, and then hold your finger on/over the resulting image do you get any options?
