Cheers Seán and thank you for your erudite comments.Seán wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 12:25 amThat is a superb album. From the early fifties Miles Davis had become a giant of Jazz and was the band leader on all recording sessions. However, he did, quite rightly, hold 'Cannonball' Adderley is such high regard that he was prepared to be included as a sideman on "Somethin' Else".

Helge Lien Trio: Hello Troll
I know nothing of this ensemble [piano, bass and drums] other than that they play wonderful music [compositions by Helge Lien] in a very good recording. I find the music to be interesting and exciting.

Do you listen to [excuse me while I genuflect] Ellington’s music?

Re: Jazz - What's your bag, man?
Yes indeed. His music was what really started me on the road to Jazz listening. Coming from a Classical music listening background I was always impressed with his part writing and arrangements.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band: New Orleans
There is very vibrant music and playing on show here that is simultaneously raw and sophisticated.
Just take one look at them and you know that they are the business!!

The Cannonball Adderley Quintet: In San Francisco
This is a terrific live album. Vibrant and exciting music. Vibrant and exciting performances. I was particularly impressed with the bass player, Sam Jones!
