I love the rawness of this, her ragged voice and the band sounding like they're on the point of falling apart but just keeping it together.

I was supposed to be at that concert! Long story. The download comes in HD quality and in an additional binaural version, too.

Started listening to these guys again last night. Trawled through The Spanish Cave, The Ruby Sea, Moonhead, The One That Got Away (Live Ghent ‘92). The wind was howling and the rain firing jets at the window panes as I sat pinned to my seat listening to one of the best bands ever to come out of US of A pummelling the walls. The combination of Kyser and Kunkel’s guitars took me places I can only dream about. Thin White Rope were horrifying and wonderful, playful and macabre. Their fascination with cartesian motifs, architecture and astronomy was always colliding with their almost sensual understanding of all things that crawl and decay. Tension pulse through the songs, pulling between beauty and terror, dank claustrophobia and limitless space, the coiled trapped energy of Kyser’s voice and the hurtling freefall of the guitars. God they were good. Thanks Caren Myers. We’re definitely on the same wavelength. Look any band who do all the above and then nonchalantly cover Some Velvet Morning had to have something going for them. Go back and read JAW’s description of Lucinda Williams’ album. Same applies here x 1000.
