Some lovely moments on that isn't there? Her duet with Willie Nelson "Baby it's cold outside" will get a spin soon if I can get to the station!

Isn't it gas, I think that’s one of the weakest tracks on it, no sparkle, very flat delivery. Willie sounds distinctly bored, just turning through the motions

It gets a spin because baby it's cold outside. I'm fierce topical me. It is a bit of a 'phoned in' track alright but even weak Willie is great.

I'd be agreeing with Derek on this one - nothing beats the Tom Jones-Cerys Matthews version IMHO.

Agreed. Tom Jones is very...believable, shall we say.

I don't know why, but for the past few Christmas Eves, I've been playing a lot of Laura Nyro late at night. Eli and the Thirteenth Confession and New York Tendaberry. Such a wonderful mix of stark, confessional songs interspersed with exuberant Motown soul - often in the same song. A very special kind of artist whose songs grow in stature with every passing year.

New York Tendaberry:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoLfWiSGRZ4 (her masterpiece, a wonderful love letter to New York - "Sidewalk and pigeon - You look like a city, but you feel like religion to me" and "I lost my eyes in East wind skies ... Here where I've cried, where I've tried, where God and the tendaberry rise" - so beautiful)

The Man Who Sends Me Home:

You Don't Love Me When I Cry:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdLwy75G ... ature=fvwp ("I will go, I will stay, in the hours of my crying day")

The Confession:

Sweet Blindness:

Luckie:

Captain Saint Lucifer:

Have a very happy Christmas to all on this forum.

Thanks for that Paul and since Christmas is now over, may I take this opportunity to wish you a
Happy New Year.....and the rest of you too :-) BTW I had those two Laura Nyro albums which I picked up for all of two pounds in the local second hand shop which, is now sadly closed down. However after listening to the marvellous clips you've posted I now realise I should have held on to them :-(

First time I've ever seen her live and I believe there's very little footage of her out there. Enjoy.
