Tape Deck
Re: Tape Deck
It depends on what you want. Tapes can sound good (believe it or not) but they don't equal a good digital or vinyl setup. That usually means a good deck and they are not cheap any more. Then tape does degrade over time, so generally its good practice to fast forward and rewind the tape a few times if you haven't played it in years.
I consider it an itch that wants a scratch, even though you know you shouldn't!

Do or do not, there is no try
Re: Tape Deck
Together with a bit of nostalgia, that's pretty much it! I've discovered my old Technics "stereo", which hasn't been touched in over 20 years, has a line out, so I might try that first ... hopefully it doesn't eat the tapes.
Re: Tape Deck
Turn it on and see if will rewind or fast forward and then use a sacrificial tape to see if its eating them
