any old amps lying around?

Post by Sloop John B »

My sons KEF LS 50W has developed an intermittent buzzing in one speaker. He uses them for music production and listening.

For the first time in many years I don't have something lying around to do him until we sort the issue

I have JPW mini monitors and a chord Hugo TT which will give him computer audio if I had an amp.

If anyone has something I could borrow I'd really appreciate it, he's lost without his music.

Ironically when you were clearing out a few years ago you gave me a Denon amp... if memory serves I passed it on to the son of another member here. Good luck with your quest!

Ah yes, my trusty old Denon PMA-450.
Meanwhile a Technics is in Waterford and a NAD in Galway.

It is great however that all these amps are still in use, I just wish I’d kept one of them!

Are you any good at fixing stuff? I discovered my old AVI under some stuff recently and I was thinking that I should ask here if anyone wants to have a look at getting it working again. Well, it actually does (did) work, but the push-button volume is stuck on full...

Many thanks. I must check the JPW speakers first as they’ve been in the attic a good while. Once they are working I’ll PM you.

Cheers, John.

Many thanks, nice to have a chat with another lunatic who brings speakers back from the UK in the back of his car!
