Hi All
Should rephrase this has anybody heard of the Opus 3 Record 1.test record.
The only way I found out about it was reading a review of the London Reference Cartridge it was used by the reviewer when setting up the cartridge.
So ordered one on line will let you know the results.
It is supposed to tell you for example iif your vtf is correct albeit your own ear. Is probably the best way.
Cheers

Well I've certainly heard of it, although I have never used it as I'm not a vinyl guy. Would be interested to hear how you get on all the same.

I have two of them...

Opus 3 - Record 1
Opus 3 - Record 4

I haven't played them in years.

I have the hifi news and record review version of this. Yes, it is helpful , but I would tend to use it now as a verification step after set up with a good protractor like the feickert or the likes. This one used to be referenced a lot in stereophile as it had a set of tracks with ever increasing levels of tracking difficulty - it was a great way of saying, well if it tracks pretty well on track 3 out of 4, then the setup is good. I suspect your record will have something similar. Also had blank areas for setting anti-skate.
Do or do not, there is no try

OK! I have just rooted out the Opus 3 Test Record 1 and there is an insert inside.

Each track is described on how each instrument 'should' sound. By listening to each track you can judge to see if you are getting the same sound as described when you listen to it on your own system.

It is a really enjoyable LP in its own right and the recording is excellent.

I also have...
Opus 3 - Test Record 4
Opus 3 - Tomas Ornberg's Blue Five with Kenny Davern

That sounds positive and sounds of it could be very useful.
I also read as you pointed out the standard of recording on the tracks is very high.
I will of course let you know how I get on with it.
Get it in about five days as had to order it from Spain.
Thanks
Alan
