Up for sale is my Onkyo A9070 integrated amplifier in silver / aluminium finish.
This unit is approximately 1 year old, and has was bought by me originally.
The A9070 is an integrated amplifier weighing in at 18.5 Kg, producing 75W into 8 ohms and 140W into 4 ohms loads. Not quite a linear power delivery but not far off either!
It was 3 line RCA inputs, a phono stage which is selectable to MM or MC, a pre out (pre amplifier mode), pre in (power amp mode), line out.
Interestingly there are a number of “Eco” features, when used as a pre amplifier the power amp section is electrically powered down. When used as a Power amp the pre amp section is powered down. If the amplifier has not detected a input signal after 15 minutes, it will go into auto stand by mode. This can be adjusted in the settings if required.
Digital inputs are two Coaxial SPDIF inputs and one Toslink Optical SPDIF input, all 3 at 192 Khz, 24 bit.
The front fascia has a bottom hinged door which reveals Tone controls, Speaker selection A, B or A+B mode, headphone jack, and a set up button.
In addition there is also a Pure Direct switch, which bypasses the tone control circuitry and powers off the digital display panel.
The internal design of the amp is well laid out with lots of space around the components. The centre is dominated by four 15,000 mu farad capacitors with the main transformer located towards the front.
Left and right amplification is carried out in a dual mono layout, input circuitry is located at the rear.
The unit comes with manual, remote control and original box.
Normal retail price for these are around the 1100 stg mark, approx. 1200 euro, currently Savins in Limerick have it with 10% off at 1079 euro approx.
I would be happy with 600 euro.
Onkyo are a Japanese brand with a good reputation for quality, seem to have done well in the AV amplifier space. In addition they have produced a interesting CD player, the CD 7000R which has it’s own thermally regulated clock.
Why am I selling? Well I am currently in a transition phase with my hifi set up at the moment. I started into Hi Fi with SS amplifiers notably Denon and Sony, then transitioned into valve amplification with Jadis, Acoustic Masterpiece and Leben. As I have decided to retain my grandfather’s Trio KA 1500 amp in the kitchen the Onkyo is being moved on.
One of the main reasons why I purchased the 9070 was it’s ability to select different speaker outputs, which I found very convenient in demoing speakers. In addition also offering the ability to choose between my main speakers 802D’s and Russell K standmounts.
This amp may suit somebody who wishes to make an entry into the Separates HiFi space for the first time as the A9070 does offer a comprehensive suite in one package ( Combined phono, Digital inputs and a bit of Grunt) or a more seasoned Hi Fi aficionado who is examining the possibility of setting up a second system elsewhere (kitchen, garage, workshop etc).
There is a good explanation video on You tube by Onkyo EU, however this video is for the A9000R, whilst very similar differs from the 9070 in that the 9000R has two more digital inputs. Other than that they are the same design / specification.

Have a bump from me, if its not sold already.
This is a fantastic amp, if a bit physically heavy and voluminous. It is in a dual mono layout which contributes to that I think.
I have the A9000R version powering DALI Oberon 1 speakers in my bachelor apartment in the ME.
Source is mainly Tidal & TV via optical and a cheap CD line in.
It is not flat-neutral nor is it coloured, and I am always ready to power up and listen. I also find it good for low volume usage.
I havent had the opportunity to check the phono or Pre/Power options though.

Indeed the Onkyo stuff is very well made, built to last. The 9000 series are very competent and have a number of very interesting features, notably having two independent speaker outputs, MC +MM and a onboard DAC. Throw in a R/C and watts of grunt too. I would describe the phono stage a surprisingly good.
For me the amp was being relocated to another part of the house, and as such it was just physically too big for the shelf it was to sit on. Hence I decided to move it on, hopefully the new owner will have many years of joy out of it.
They also make a very nice CD player, the C 7000r, dual transformer.
