Hi! Im new to this forum, Just created the account to ask for some advice!
I have been playing around with my dads old CD player and have been trying to get to the bottom of an issue.
At first the loading tray got stuck which upon further inspection turned out to be the belt slipping. I have now replaced the belts with a new pair and it is opening and closing fine, however the tray wont stay closed and the cd won't play.
I have already ordered white lithium grease to smoothen the operation of the tray.
Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated. (VID BELOW)
Sony X77ES loading problem?
Re: Sony X77ES loading problem?
The mechanism needs something to tell itself that it is successfully closed (the puck dropping down is usually simply mechanical). So its a good bet that there is a switch, hall sensor or something that is not working - try to have a look see if there is a switch somewhere. If it hadn't been used in a long time its possible just cleaning contacts or removing fluff from a hall sensor might get her going.
Do or do not, there is no try
Re: Sony X77ES loading problem?
Sorry - the other really common reason for this is that the drawer is getting snagged on the chassis on the way in. Take off the front of the drawer (usually slides up some way or other) and test again. Small misalignment of the mech in the chassis can cause this.
