Strange thing is I've had the earths disconnected for at leas 20 years with no problems at all. It was just a casual browsing the internet when I came across an article on hifi equipment and one definite thing that came out it was ''not to disconnect the earth wire in a plug to solve a ground loop.

And here's the big thing about it, it mentioned that if there was a problem with the amplifier a person could get an electric shock or worse!

It got me thinking well it has worked fine for me all these years but if a fault did occur, jeepers I might not live to tell the tale.

I am going to look at the ground/signal/earthing arrangement in the power amps tomorrow.

Just opened one of the power amps and here is a pic of the earth wire coming in on the left and connected top left.

Will a photo of all the innards be better or anything specific?

probably picture of all of it, or 2-3 pics of each section of it

i think star gnd is bolted direct to case, which would easily explain your issues

and after checking none of that stuff is still live and you have a multimeter check for continuity or resistance between mains gnd and star gnd
